Alinafe Makosa

My name is Alinafe Makosa. I am 14 years old. I was born on 4th April, 2010.

I am the first born child in a family of one girl and one boy. I am in Form

2 ready to write the JCE. I come from a very poor family that cannot afford

to pay school fees here at St. Lawrence Girls Secondary School. This poverty

affects me a lot. There are times when I actually go without basic needs. Of

course I understand that there is nothing I can do to improve the situation

as a student. I just made a decision to cling to books so that I can excel

in academics.

St Lawrence is a good School. It has many interesting things like the

library, the laboratory and good spacious classrooms. We have a hardworking

Headteacher as well as a hardworking team of teachers. Even the other

support staff are friendly too.

Mr Moyo is a good teacher. He teaches us Biology very well. He advises us to

work hard in class. He also takes care of me and other scholarship students.

He has been encouraging me to maintain my position in class. Mr Moyo makes

sure that we are well and happy always. This makes us forget about our homes

too. As a sports teacher, hehe encourages us to have healthy bodies by doing

a lot of exercises. It is just difficult to forget Mr Moyo.

Just like Mr Moyo, all other teachers are loving, caring and compassionate.

They always encourage us to put much effort in our academic life.

At the kitchen, the food is delicious and well prepared. Our menu is well

structured and fit for human survival.

I am always happy with the scholarship. I pray that I should reach College

like one of us, Doreen, did. With God everything is possible.
